Volkswagen Scirocco (08 - present)
This revives a great name and heritage in sport coupes and is a real breath of fresh air with its distinctive looks, performance, and reasonable price tag. The front end and neatly styled tailgate give it a commanding presence. This appeals to drivers of all ages. There aren’t many on Irish roads either so there is a degree of exclusivity. The interior looks great and the trims, dials and buttons were given a brushed chrome effect - it really works. On the road, the Scirocco is great fun to drive. It handles brilliantly, the steering is sharp and positive, and the ride is sporty/smooth. The excellent chassis ensures excellent grip – you can have fun with this.
Look out for
• Reports of cracking around the rims of the 19" wheels after hitting a pothole

• The Scirocco is a smart looking car, one of the best in class
• It is great fun to drive. Feels sporty and competent all settings
• The cabin looks great, you can tell a lot of thought went into it
• There are some exceptional petrol and diesel engines
What we don't like
• Visibility through the rear window is disappointing
