Review
Skoda Rapid (12 - present)
Skoda’s reputation has been on the up for some time now. The sales figures show this is a company going places. The Rapid is a good looking car with a lot of space and a come-on price tag. There’s lots of space inside, it can carry up to five, leg/head room is plentiful, and it is comfortable. The cabin is easy on the eye, and there’s a lot of kit. Everything is user-friendly. It’s easy to manoeuvre, and despite its saloon dimensions, the handling is good. Visibility all-round is excellent and the driving position is spot on.
Look out for
• Some complaints of water leaking through the doors
What we like
• Saloon looks with hatchback practicality; biggest boot in class
• Engine line-up is excellent; some efficient ones to choose from
• The price is keen and running costs are surprisingly low
• Tonnes of standard equipment and safety features
What we don't like
• Expensive extras, especially the likes of the sport mouldings
